Spontaneous Inquiries

I welcome the opportunity to work with students and postdocs who have a strong academic record, quantitative  and computer programming skills, research and writing experience and (most importantly) creative ideas on new ways to address today's most pressing water and energy challenges. However, before contacting me about opportunities in my group, please review the information below.

If you are an undergrad at Notre Dame and would like to do independent research with me, please get in touch by email -- I'm always very happy to meet and discuss common research ideas. Please consider taking my class "Sustainable Development in a Changing World" offered each Spring. It is a core class for the Engineering Minor in Sustainability and Resilience and we talk a lot about today's most pressing problems in Water and Energy.

If you would like to contact me about the possibility of joining us a PhD student or a Postdoc please send me an email with your CV and numbered paragraphs addressing the following:
  1. Your research interests and skills
  2. How your interests and skills align with my work
  3. Opportunities for grants or fellowships to fund your work
Please note that due to the high volume of received emails, I will only reply to inquires that specifically address the above elements. However, if you have do address these three points, I very much welcome your inquiry and am looking forward to starting a conversation. It's fine if you don't have finalized ideas for either of the three points, but I'd like to see that you at least have given it some thoughts.

Regrettably, research work in my group usually cannot be used to fund a Masters program.
